A lock that only opens when you want it to.
The locking mechanism operates in three stages: a balanced default position, an intermediate position where the hook remains engaged without being released, and an open position where the hook releases the side. This means a deliberate motion is required all the way through before the side is released.
Rough gravel roads, parking on slopes, or a driver leaning against the side during loading are not enough to trigger the lock unintentionally.
The latch is spring-loaded and works against a wear plate, absorbing play between the pillar and side in all directions. This eliminates rattling noise during driving. It’s a detail competitors often handle less effectively, and in many cases, it’s noise—not function—that appears first in warranty claims. With the 3000 XF, the lock feels as precise in year five as it did at first delivery.

The 3-Step Mechanism
The 160° handle movement enables quick, effortless loading and unloading. The handle is also interchangeable for easy maintenance.
Step 1: Neutral position
Step 2: The lock hook is not affected, clearance
Step 3: The lock hook opens
The unique 160 degrees action of the handle and 37 mm dimension in open position reduce the risk of the handle making contact with items, e.g. toolboxes, under the platform. The handle is also replaceable.
Made of anodised aluminium, the product is virtually maintenance-free.
A Handle that stays out of the way
The most noticeable difference compared to other drop-side locks in this segment lies in the handle movement. The 3000 XF folds out 160 degrees and lands at a 37 mm opening depth from the drop-side.
Most competing systems in the same vehicle class typically sit between 60 and 90 mm, which is one of the most common reasons body builders are forced to relocate components, shrink toolboxes, or redesign mounting layouts.
With the 3000 XF, you can fold down the side even when a jack, generator, or welded toolbox is mounted directly beneath the side shelf. This often preserves valuable underbody space that would otherwise be the first compromise in a pickup build.
No slams, great retrieval capability.
The lock hook is spring-loaded so that, together with the wear pad, completely remove the mud in all directions betweeen the post and edge shoe. The design is optimized for maximum acquisition capacity. Which provides a simple, smoth and distinct locking.

Three heights - Already validated in the field.
The 3000 XF is available in drop-side heights of 300, 350, and 400 mm, with mirrored variants for left and right. Weight ranges from 0.55 to 0.68 kg per lock depending on height.
These are the three most common heights for dropside and tipper builds for LCVs and pickups in Europe, already validated in volume with partners such as Ingimex in the UK, Henschel in Germany, and Tysse in Norway.
For you, this means shorter lead times from order to delivery, inventory planning you can actually rely on, and pre-prepared type approval documentation according to EN 12642, ready to be included in your own UTAC, TÜV, or equivalent certification processes.
Standard for three dropside heights.
Armaton 4000XF is available as standard for three dropside heights of 300, 400 and 600 mm.

Spare parts flow that works when something happens
The handle is supplied as a complete spare parts kit including handle, pin, and extractor. When a drop-side is hit by a forklift (which inevitably happens), the workshop replaces the handle without dismantling the entire lock housing. Average time: around 15 minutes. The vehicle is back in operation the same morning.
It’s not the most spectacular detail on a product sheet—but it’s the kind of detail that becomes very visible in fleet uptime statistics over five years.

Anodised aluminium – no coating to maintain
The frame is made entirely of anodised aluminium. Contact surface components are of the highest quality. No part of the locking system requires painting, and nothing corrodes—regardless of climate.
For a leased LCV running 5–7 years, this means no rust holes in the side profile, no repainting as a maintenance item, and nothing to explain to the second-hand buyer. For body builders, this results in fewer warranty cases per delivered build. For fleet owners, it means stronger residual value compared to equivalent steel constructions.
