Determined to improve
We design and manufacture top quality systems for light commercial vehicles, but our brand promise is about much more than pillars and dropside locks. “Determined to Improve” comes from the mindset that everything we design and build is done with the objective to improve our customers’ business and in turn, facilitate their customers’ workday.
Where it all began
Armaton’s story began back in 1986 when Swedish engineer Ragnvald Andersson patented his design for dropside locking pillars. Just a few years later, in 1990, the VBG Group acquired Armaton.
At that time, the dropside pillars and locking systems were focused on heavy-duty vehicles, but as the products became more focused on lighter trucks through the years, VBG Group made the decision in 2014 to sell Armaton to its current owner, Forankra, Europe’s largest supplier of cargo lashing equipment in the transport sector.
Armaton has its head office together with Forankra in Vårgårda, Sweden.
P.S. Ragnvald Andersson (to the left in the picture) is still going strong at Armaton and has now invented the patented Modular Platform Kit for dropsides and box light commercial vehicles.
